How your files are handled

When you add PDF files, they are read into browser memory and combined with pdf-lib running on this device. The files, their names, and their sizes are never sent to any server. Open the DevTools Network tab to verify zero outbound requests during a merge.

  1. Add your PDF files

Drag and drop multiple PDFs into the upload area, or click to choose files.

  2. Reorder files

Drag rows by the handle, use the Up/Down buttons, or focus a row and press the arrow keys.

  3. Name your merged PDF

Edit the output filename. The .pdf extension is added automatically.

  4. Click Merge & Download

The merged PDF is built in your browser and downloaded straight to your device.

  • Drag rows by the handle to reorder, or use the on-row Up and Down buttons.
  • Focus a row and press Arrow Up, Arrow Down, Home, or End to reorder by keyboard.
  • Password-protected PDFs are detected at intake and must be removed or unlocked before merging.
  • The output filename defaults to the first file plus "-merged.pdf" β€” edit it any time before merging.
  • Open the DevTools Network tab during a merge to confirm no outbound traffic.
  • Client-side merge: pages are copied losslessly with pdf-lib running on your device.
  • Zero network calls: no part of your files, their names, or their sizes leaves your browser. Verify in the Network tab.
  • No file storage: your PDFs stay in memory and are cleared when you reset the queue or close the tab.
  • No content analytics: we never log or transmit your filenames, page counts, or file bytes.
  • Works offline: load the page once, then disconnect from the internet β€” merging still works.
How do I merge PDF files for free?

Drop your PDFs onto this page, drag them into the order you want, name the output, and press Merge & Download. It is free with no account and no daily limit.

Is it safe to merge PDFs online?

With this tool, yes β€” your files never leave the browser. Many other "online" mergers upload your files to a server. We never do.

Are my files uploaded to your server?

No. The merge runs entirely in your browser using pdf-lib. You can verify this in the DevTools Network tab β€” no PDF bytes are transmitted.

Can I reorder pages before merging?

You can reorder files in this version. Page-level reordering inside each file is on the roadmap.

Is there a file size or page limit?

There is no enforced limit. Practical limits depend on your device memory; very large queues show a heads-up before you merge.

Can I merge PDFs on my iPhone or Android?

Yes β€” the layout works on phones with large touch targets, and the merge runs in any modern mobile browser.

Does merging reduce PDF quality?

No. Pages are copied losslessly with pdf-lib's copyPages β€” we don't re-render or re-compress page content.

What happens to my files after I close the tab?

They are gone. Files only live in browser memory while the tab is open. We never persist them locally or remotely.

Can I merge password-protected PDFs?

Encrypted files are detected at intake and flagged with a lock icon. Remove or unlock them first, then merge. We never attempt to bypass protection.

How do I combine scanned documents into one PDF?

Add each scanned PDF, drag them into the order you need, set a filename, and press Merge & Download. The result is a single PDF you can share or archive.
