Privacy by default
The short version: Tool Matic runs its tools in your browser, and whatever you put into a tool is processed on your device — it is never uploaded to us. This page explains what a few tools keep on your device and the limited usage data we collect.
How the tools work
Every Tool Matic tool runs entirely in your browser. The files, text and settings you enter are processed on your own device — they are not uploaded to, transmitted to, or stored on our servers. Most tools forget your input when you close the tab; a few keep it on your device so you can pick up where you left off (see the next section).
Data some tools keep on your device
These tools save data in your browser’s local storage, on this device only, and never send it to us: Markdown Editor (your document draft), Wheel of Names (your names and saved lists), World Cup Team Randomizer (player lists, saved setups and the current draw), Regex Tester (your last pattern and test text), Gradient Generator (your draft and recent gradients), Text to Slug Converter and Contrast Checker (recent history), Color Palette Generator and Box Shadow Generator (recent colours and copy format), and Online Digital Clock (display settings). The JSON tools keep your input in session storage while you switch between them; it is cleared when you close the tab. Use a tool’s clear or reset button, or clear this site’s data in your browser, to remove it.
Information we collect
We use Google Analytics to collect anonymous usage data — which pages are visited, approximate region, browser and device type — to understand which tools are useful and to improve the site. Analytics records the page address; for the few tools that put their settings in a shareable link (for example a countdown’s target date), that address includes those settings. It never receives the files you open or the text you paste into a tool.
Cookies and preferences
We store a few preferences in your browser: your language (a cookie) and your light, dark or automatic theme (local storage). Google Analytics sets its own cookies to count visits. If we add other cookies or storage, this policy will be updated first.
Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. The aggregated, non-identifying analytics described above are processed by Google on our behalf.
Your choices
You can clear cookies and local storage at any time from your browser settings, or block analytics with your browser’s tracking protection or an extension. The tools keep working either way — clearing site data only removes saved preferences and the tool data listed above.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Tool Matic changes. The date below always reflects the current version; significant changes will be highlighted on the site.
