Countdown Timer
Pick a target date and time, add an optional label, and share a link to a private live countdown. Everything stays in your browser.
- Pick a target date and time β it defaults to one hour from now so you see a working timer right away.
- Confirm the time zone or pick a different IANA zone using the search field.
- Add an optional event label (up to 80 characters) so the countdown reads at a glance.
- Click "Start countdown" to launch the live timer and update the share link.
- Use "Copy link" to share the countdown β recipients see the same target on any device.
How do I create a countdown to a specific date?
Pick the target date and time, confirm or change the time zone, and add an optional event label. Click "Start countdown" to launch the live timer. The URL updates automatically so you can come back to it later.
Does the countdown keep running if I close the tab?
The visual countdown stops when the page closes, but your most recent settings are saved locally. Reopening the page restores the same countdown using the URL or your saved entry.
Can I share my countdown with someone else?
Yes. Use "Copy link" to copy the current URL β it contains the target time, time zone, and label. Anyone who opens the link sees the same countdown, no signup required.
Does this work across time zones?
Yes. The target is anchored to a specific IANA time zone (e.g. America/New_York). The page also shows the equivalent time in the viewerβs local zone so the time always reads correctly.
Is my countdown private?
Yes. The countdown runs entirely in your browser. Your event label, target date, and time zone are never sent to a server. The shareable URL is the only way information travels.
What happens when the countdown reaches zero?
The display switches to a friendly reached state with your event label, then shows an elapsed timer counting up since the moment passed. You can copy the link or start a new countdown at any time.
Can I use this in full-screen for a presentation or stream?
Yes. Click "Full screen" to enlarge the digits for screen-share, OBS, or kiosk use. Press Escape to leave full-screen and return to the regular layout.
