How to choose

Pick the right format for your use case

Format conversion

Converting between PNG, JPEG, and WebP

Image Format Converter handles PNG, JPEG, and WebP in one operation. Drag your file, pick an output format, and download — lossless for PNG and WebP.

Web optimization

Choosing the right format for the web

WebP delivers better compression than JPEG and PNG at the same visual quality — ideal for page images. PNG remains best for logos and assets with transparency.

Privacy-first workflow

PNG vs JPEG vs WebP — what is the difference?

PNG: lossless, transparent, great for graphics. JPEG: lossy, photos, very small. WebP: best of both — lossless or lossy, transparency support, modern.

Your images stay on your device

Conversion happens via the browser Canvas and OffscreenCanvas APIs — the same primitives Figma and Photoshop Web use. No server involved.

Once the page has loaded, the tool works even offline. Convert sensitive images — documents, personal photos, logos — without the risk of leakage.

What's under the hood

  • Native Canvas API Uses HTMLCanvasElement.toBlob — the same conversion method professional in-browser image editors use.
  • Zero files sent Pixels never leave your machine. Conversion happens entirely in memory, then the result is downloaded locally.
  • Works fully offline Once loaded, convert images with no internet connection — useful while traveling or in restricted environments.
  • No cloud storage No image is stored or cached. Close the tab and everything is gone.

Frequently asked questions

Are my images sent to a server?
No. Conversion happens entirely in your browser using the HTML5 Canvas API. No pixel leaves your device.
What is the maximum file size?
The limit is set by your browser's available memory, not our servers. In practice, images up to around 50 MB work well on most modern devices.
Is WebP conversion lossless?
Yes, if your source is a PNG. The WebP output will also be lossless. If you convert a JPEG (already lossy), the resulting WebP will inherit that loss but not add more.
Can I convert multiple images at once?
The tool currently processes one image at a time to ensure privacy and simplicity. Convert and download each one individually.
