Overview

Crop images to any aspect ratio in your browser

Crop images to any aspect ratio — right in your browser. Lock 1:1, 16:9, or 4:3, rotate, and export as JPG, PNG, or WebP. Your images are never uploaded.

Step by step

How to crop an image

  1. 1
    Upload your image

Drag a JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, or BMP file onto the upload area, or click to browse. Files up to 25 MB are accepted.

  2. 2
    Position the crop area

Drag any of the eight corner and edge handles to resize the crop rectangle. Drag inside the rectangle to move it without resizing.

  3. 3
    Lock an aspect ratio (optional)

Choose 1:1 for a square, 16:9 for widescreen, or 4:3 for classic landscape. The crop area will snap to the selected ratio and stay locked while you drag.

  4. 4
    Rotate the image (optional)

Use the rotation slider to tilt the image from −45° to +45°. The crop rectangle stays axis-aligned while the image rotates beneath it.

  5. 5
    Choose your output format

Select JPG, PNG, or WebP. For JPG and WebP you can also adjust the quality slider to balance file size and detail.

  6. 6
    Download the cropped image

Click Download cropped image. Your browser saves the result instantly — nothing is sent to any server.

Frequently asked questions

Does this tool upload my image to a server?
No. All processing happens entirely in your browser using the Canvas API. Your image is never sent to any server and never leaves your device.
Which image formats can I crop?
You can upload JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, and BMP files up to 25 MB. GIF input uses the first frame only. You can export the cropped result as JPG, PNG, or WebP.
How do I crop an image to a square (1:1)?
Click the 1:1 button in the Aspect ratio row. The crop area snaps to a square centered on your current selection. Drag any corner handle to resize while keeping the square shape.
What aspect ratio should I use for a YouTube thumbnail?
YouTube thumbnails use a 16:9 ratio. Click 16:9 in the Aspect ratio row and the crop area locks to that proportion automatically.
Can I rotate the image before cropping?
Yes. The Rotation slider lets you tilt the image from −45° to +45°. The rotation is applied at full resolution when you download — so the output stays sharp.
What is the maximum image size?
The upload limit is 25 MB. Images larger than 10,000 × 10,000 pixels are scaled down proportionally for editing; the output is still generated at the scaled dimensions.
Why is there no quality slider for PNG?
PNG is a lossless format — every pixel is preserved exactly and there is no quality setting. The quality slider appears only when JPG or WebP is selected.
Can I use keyboard shortcuts to adjust the crop area?
Yes. Click on the crop canvas to focus it, then use the arrow keys to nudge the crop area one pixel at a time. Hold Shift for 10-pixel steps. Press Enter or Space to download.
What happens when I click Reset?
Reset removes the current image and returns the tool to its initial state so you can start over with a new file.
